Position Title: Entry Level Wildlife Specialist Length of Position: Position is full-time permanent Position Description: We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to work with a team of professional staff, interns and volunteers to provide compassionate medical care and rehabilitation to local wildlife. We need an emotionally mature individual to assist in supporting the daily wildlife rehabilitation operations (as part of the medical clinic team), provide medical care to injured wildlife, and provide support and leadership for our robust volunteer and intern program. Preferred Training and Experience: BA / MS from a four-year college or university and a minimum of 2-4 years progressive experience in orthinology / mammology work in a similar setting or equivalent combination of training, handling and experience. We are also seeking superior interpersonal, communication skills, and knowledge of volunteer management/human resources principles. A degree in Biological Sciences, Zoology, Animal Husbandry or a related field of expertise preferred. Combination of education and experience required performing the duties of the assigned position. Position Title: Senior Wildlife Care Intern Length of Position: Seasonal- March 15- October 15 Position Description: The Center for Wildlife Senior Internship offers practical, hands-on experience in a large rehabilitation clinic. Some of the skills learned include species identification, husbandry techniques, wild animal handling, medical exams/triage, administration of medication, managing, supervising, training other interns and volunteers, and other procedures. Senior Interns report directly to staff and work closely with the medical clinic team in a more experienced and supervisory role than first-year Wildlife Care Interns. Extensive training and workshops are provided. We are looking for a strong leader that can motivate and work closely with our large team of interns/volunteers to make a memorable experience for all and ensure that patients get the daily attention and care that they need. We are looking for someone who takes initiative to get projects and daily tasks done in a timely manner. A Senior Intern is expected to work 30-40 hours/ week in 5 shifts from March 15th- October 15th. Shifts include some early, late, and weekend shifts but schedule is set for the duration of the internship. Vacations are unpaid and must be approved in advance. Position Title: Medical Clinic Director Length of Position: Position is full-time permanent Position Description: We are looking for an energetic, experienced professional to lead a team of professional staff, interns and volunteers providing expert and compassionate medical care and rehabilitation to local wildlife. We need a highly organized and emotionally mature individual who believes in our mission, thrives on challenge, and will positively represent the Center and its work. Serving as a critical member of the senior leadership team, the incumbent will share in setting the future direction of the medical program including creation of policies, objectives, practice standards, and adherence to regulatory requirements. The Medical Clinic Director will be a working supervisor, responsible for leading shifts as well as clinic management. Responsibilities include strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, organizing, and managing all resources related to the medical clinic. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week with a peak busy season ranging from April through October. Peak season may require more than 40 hours per week. November through March is more geared toward planning and administrative activities. The Wildlife Medical Clinic Director will oversee the daily operations of the Wildlife Medical Clinic including but not limited to overseeing / conducting admissions, assessments, health checks, medical treatment, maintaining medical records, establishing individual dietary plans, creating and modifying clinic protocols, designing and carrying out treatment plans, consulting veterinarians on difficult cases, and working with other staff to ensure each patient receives the necessary individualized care to thrive and be released into the wild. The Medical Clinic Director should be comfortable handling the close to 200 species treated by the center; and be familiar with common ailments and health needs of each of these species, including issues they may face while recovering. Preferred Training and Experience: Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in Biological Sciences, Zoology, Animal Husbandry, or related curriculum and 6-8 years of progressive experience in orthinology / mammology work in a similar setting or equivalent combination of training, handling and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. Alternatively, professional work experience, which clearly demonstrates attainment of required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may substitute for a completed degree.
